Tennis TIP Television Commercial
Location: Soho, NYC
The creative for the commercial was conceived to be spontaneous and attract
new tennis players to learning the sport of tennis and to break down any
inhibitions our target audience might have about their skills and the address
the fun of learning the game.
We decided to utilize a spontaneous “man on the street” interviewing
style and interview prospective tennis players in an urban street setting
in large metropolitan market to change the perception that tennis lessons
are not accessible, convenient or affordable in large cities.
We taped the spot in digital video using mounted camera microphone and
wireless hand held microphone utilized by the talent. We use one reflective
light shield to reduce glare.
We hired a stylist to dress the talent. Our goal was to create an attire
that broke the traditional mold of tennis pro, worked well with the cold
outdoor temperature and fit in with our younger demographic.
We developed the sound for the commercial using the camera microphone to
pick up background street noise and the hand held microphone for spontaneous
dialogue from the interviews. We also licensed a music track to run underneath
the commercial to give the commercial a modern and urban edge. We used
voice over talent for the ad copy to create a call to action to buy our
group tennis clinics.
We used our logo and graphics at the beginning and end of the spot to build
brand awareness.
